Background:
3D ultrasound is a safe and fast imaging method that does not involve any radiation. It works similarly to regular ultrasound, but instead of showing flat (2D) images, it creates a detailed 3D picture of the tumour. The ultrasound probe moves in a precise pattern to take multiple images, which are combined by a computer to form a full 3D view. This gives doctors the ability to see the tumour from many different angles, making it easier to understand its exact size and location.
The Trial:
In this study, doctors are exploring whether using 3D ultrasound can help better guide treatments, such as accurately destroying tumours with heat (ablation) or taking more precise biopsies.
Patients who are already having a kidney tumour treatment or biopsy will be asked to take part. After the procedure, doctors will compare the 3D ultrasound images with CT scans taken before and after the treatment to make sure the tumour was properly treated or sampled.
Basic Eligibility:
- Kidney cancer patients who are scheduled to undergo an ablation or kidney tumor biopsy
