Testing a New CAR-T Treatment (GCAR1) for Advanced Kidney Cancers

Trial ID: NCT07297667
Kidney Cancer Type: non-clear cell

Background:

This clinical trial is studying a new type of treatment called CAR-T cell therapy, which uses a patient’s own immune cells to fight cancer.

In this study, researchers are testing an experimental treatment called GCAR1. GCAR1 is designed to recognize a specific protein called GPNMB, which is found at high levels on some cancer cells, including certain kidney cancers. By targeting this protein, GCAR1 may help the immune system better find and attack cancer cells.

GCAR1 works by taking immune cells (called T cells) from the patient and modifying them in a lab so they can recognize cancer more effectively. These modified cells are then returned to the body to help fight the cancer.

The Trial:

This study is testing a new treatment called GCAR1, a type of CAR-T cell therapy, in people with certain cancers, including kidney cancer.

This is an early-phase study, which means researchers are still learning about:

  • The safest dose of GCAR1
  • How the treatment affects the body
  • Whether it shows signs of helping control cancer

All participants in this study will receive GCAR1 treatment. There are no separate treatment groups.

Basic Eligibility:

  • Have advanced kidney cancer (non–clear cell type) or another eligible cancer that cannot be removed with surgery or cured
  • Your cancer shows high levels of the GPNMB protein (this will be tested using a tumour sample)
  • Have already received previous treatments, and your cancer has continued to grow or returned

Additional eligibility criteria will apply. Please speak to your doctor.
